Today is a good day for the iPad. Having grown accustomed to the features and nuances of the iPhone4, I couldn’t help but yearn for the little things that my iPhone could do, but that my iPad fell short of. That said, iOS 4.2 is really nice to have running on my iPad.

Top things for me?

1. Unified Inbox – need I say more
2. Brightness widget – one of the key reasons I’ve been jail breaking was for SBSettings feature to do this easily. Granted I like swipe gestures over double-tap, but it works great.
3. Icon folders – 8 really painful pages of icons down to ONE!!
4. Multitasking – already used it to bounce between Mail and Safari and Maps and for the universal apps that already updated for the iPhone, it’s just as it always should have been.

So far, everything looks great and I haven’t run into any big bugs yet. But even if I do, iOS 4.2 is here to stay.

I’m now officially a part of the iPhone Developer Program (not that elite of a group). I’ve been considering it for a while now and with the introduction of the iPad, my mind is going crazy with ideas of what could be done with it. Overall I wasn’t that impress with what has been released, but the more that I think about it and consider, the more it makes sense.

1. Apple has every single price point covered from $39 to $3999 and higher. Basically there’s an Apple product that fits every budget.

2. The bezel around the tablet seemed huge at first, but then again if the screen went right up to the side, it’d be hard to hold. Having owned a HP TC1100 tablet (a near perfect form factor), I can say that holding a tablet means having part of your hand on the front part of the screen. Not a problem for the TC1100, but it didn’t have multi-touch either! If you look at all the photos, there’s a big ol thumb right where that “fat” bezel is. Given that it’s apple, it’s likely there was more thought going into it.

Anyhow, I’m strongly considering ordering one once it’s available. Beyond my craving for gadgets and new tech, I am really excited about the application possibilities and being able to create my own apps and use them on cool devices like the iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad.

So…time will tell if I can come up with something cool and perhaps it’ll make its way onto the AppStore someday too!
